About
Personalized Nutrition Counseling

We believe that everyone deserves to be in tune with their body's needs through self-compassion, autonomy and trust. Food and body liberation will free up time and energy around what truly aligns with your values. We would love to help you find out what nourishing foods and movement practices work best for you.

Our Philosophy

Our non-diet, body inclusive approach to health integrates nutrition and psychology in order to help you break away from dieting, disordered eating or an eating disorder. By working together through compassion, collaboration, and cultivation, you will always be in the driver’s seat of your recovery. We may be the nutrition experts, but you are the expert of your body. We promise to listen and honor your lived experience with support and respect. You'll always receive individualized, easy-to-digest nutrition support so that you can redefine what health means to YOU.

Our Coaching Approach

  • Compassion

We know it’s not easy nor fun navigating a world immersed in diet culture and weight stigma. Thanks to social media and all the “picture-perfect” content, a critical, perfectionistic mindset may develop. That critical voice is what we call the inner “gremlin”. We are all about challenging that pesky little internal voice with lots of nurturing kindness and a sprinkle of laughter here and there, because laughter truly is the best medicine.

  • Collaboration

Everyone’s food and body story is different through an intersection of cultural backgrounds and upbringings, health conditions, socioeconomic status, and marginalized identities. Throughout our work together, we will learn about your food and movement history as well as what feels realistic for you in order to make powerful changes in your life. We also collaborate with your treatment team, such as your physician, therapist and psychiatrist (with your consent, of course!) in order to provide the best care possible free from weight stigma.

  • Cultivation

After gaining insight into your thoughts, feelings and behaviors around food, exercise and body image, we will explore your readiness to make changes. Goal-setting and skill-building are done gradually in order to empower you to become your very own nutrition expert. We are always open to doing meal challenges with you in session!

  • Respect

Although there is the word ‘diet’ in dietitian, we promise we are far from being the food police. You will never be judged for your eating habits, size or exercise behaviors. Mutual respect and empathy are essential to create a trusting relationship with yourself and your body.

Rachel Farnan, MS, RDN

Registered Dietitian at Olive Tree RD

Rachel (she/her) specializes in eating disorders, intuitive eating, HAES, sports nutrition, and disordered eating. She has worked in eating disorder treatment centers for partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programming, as well as with D1 athletes in the collegiate setting.

Rachel is all about using food as fuel and the motto “all foods fit.” Through her work fueling athletes for optimal performance, she discovered another passion for addressing disordered eating prevalent in many of the various populations she has worked with. She is enthusiastic to debunk diet culture myths presented by misinformation spread in social media in order to promote a healthy relationship with food. In contrast to “healthy” diets requiring restriction of food groups, her nutrition philosophy involves what you can add to your diet to improve your health.
